Something You Won’t See on CNN
You would never see this piece or certainly the unfiltered comments of Iraqis on CNN. This was aired today:
Listen to what the man he meets on the street says.
General Patreaus was right. Remember it was just about a year ago when MoveOn.org a major supporter of Barack Obama placed this dispicable ad in newspapers around the country:
Click to read the full image. The radical american left was wrong then and they continue to be wrong on Iraq. And wrong on how to keep this country safe. Tell MoveOn.org that their attacks today on John McCain are as ill informed and inaccurate as they were just a year ago.
There’s No Liberal Media Bias . . . . Right?
So what did your Sunday paper have on the front page this morning? As I read this morning’s paper, News and Observer here in Raleigh, I was disgusted to find a hugely important news story buried on page 13A while a story on Harry Potter Based Bands took up a sizable section on the front page.
Of course the majority for the front page was dedicated to the death of Jesse Helms. While I was certainly no fan of him, he clearly had a hugely important role in North Carolina politics and to the politics of the nation.
But “beneath the fold” there was an article about bands that so lack originality that they base they names, dress, and probably their songs on J. K Rowling’s Harry Potter Series. Clearly this is important news to the folks at the N and O. Losers who are so out of touch with reality that they name their bands after tales of a fictional teenage wizard.
Yet this phenomenon is so unique to the N and O that they placed it on the front page of their newspaper.
So what did I find on page 13 A. Buried beneath the Harry Potter and on the very last page of the second A section I found this story:
Iraq’s al-Maliki claims victory over terrorists
WOW, isn’t that a slightly more important story then . . . . . .well anything? Not only did the N and O bury it on the last page of the Second Section all they did was reprint it from the Associated Press(AP). I find it appalling that staff writers’ time is spent chasing around wannabe wizards and nothing is spent working or processing what could be the most important story of the day.
Listen to this:
Iraq’s prime minister said Saturday that the government has defeated terrorism in the country, a sign of growing confidence after recent crackdowns against Sunni extremists and Shiite militias.
Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki launched the crackdowns to extend the authority of the government over areas in Baghdad and elsewhere that have largely been under the control of armed groups since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
“They were intending to besiege Baghdad and control it,” al-Maliki said. “But thanks to the will of the tribes, security forces, army and all Iraqis, we defeated them.”
[Speaking on the 5th Anniversary of an attack on a leading opponent of Saddam Hussein]
Such attacks plagued Iraq following the U.S.-led invasion, but violence in the country has now fallen to its lowest level in four years.
“Under the national unity government, the Iraqis have achieved national feats … that are now lighting the course of our march,” al-Maliki said.
Is it any wonder why conservatives like me are feed up with the mainstream media? This is good news but you won’t see it.
I’m not saying everything is rosy but shouldn’t we post this good news at least as prominently as we’ve been posting the bad?
If you aren’t excited about a story like that then I do begin to question your motivations? I don’t want to sound like some of the other conservative radio talking heads but why is bad news for your country in Iraq good news for your party? When news like this comes out we should be celebrating it, not burying hoping no one will see it.
