For weeks the President has been defending his healthcare plan by saying that if you have employer provided healthcare and you like it you can keep it. That this plan of his is for everyone else.
What conservatives know is that there is no business in the world that can compete with the federal government and employers will drop their plan, pay any small penalties they are assessed and their employees will be added to the govern plan, leading to a single-payer system. The Obama team and their minions including MoveOn.org have decried those concerns as fear-mongering. Let’s see what they don’t want you to see:

so do you really think having a public option is that bad . did medicare put the private ins. co. out of buis. 45 years later they are bigger and badder than ever . people have forgatten that it is even a govt. program . keep your govt. hands off my medicare . some what over 20 states have one company controling over 50 per cent of health ins. some over 70% . they like it as it is . i speak as one of the most blessed americans . i have good ins. thru my very large employer . even they have spent the last 10-15 years getting every one into a hmo . years ago becky was walking and was hit by a car . she sustained some broken bones and it was very scary . months of recovery . i made one of the stupidest decisions of my life then . i investigated the accident and decieded because i felt becky was at least some what at fault . no lawyers or sueing . i had health insurance and the driver had insurance that was involved too. 2 years later sheila and i spent our life savings to pay off the doctors and hospitals . they wore us down was rejections appeals bouncing back and forth , and lies . i will never forget the look on sheila’s face when she finally told me . stop the calls, threats and do whatever you have to make them stop . i should have remembered that when roseanne talked about taking her shotgun over to deal with the people who were denying her care . fyi , her insureance only permitted her to be treated ( at that stage ) when they were assured that uncle chuck was going to return her guns and car keys to her . and they heard roseanne in the room , beg for them . NO system is perfect . i believe a single payer univeral system would be best for the country . that is not going to happen . in any form , but is private ins. co. so fragile that they can’t compete ? the head of one of the large private ins. co. is retiring with a 1.1 billion dollar package . they must be doing very well. and they can afford 6000 lobbyiest at a cost of 1.4 million dollars a day ( everyday) to crush obama .make it his “Waterloo ” to quote republican senator de mint , hey isn’t he your senator ? i find it disgusting that they use people ( scared seniors , scared gun owners and some crazies , right wing militias and lyndon la rouche people ) to make everyone else stop thinking , omg obama’s death panals are pulling theplug on your cousin james . just like the brits did to dr. steven hawking . please everyone use your minds and think. john

John as a matter of fact I do beleive that Medicare has ruined private insurance because unless you are still working you will be unable to get private insurance if you are over 65 because there is no company in the world that can/would pay for supporting this population when the government does it.
Even in retirement, former employees are being pushed to the Medicare option because it is available. “you’ll have coverage until you are 65 and then you have to go on Medicare” Just ask my father in law.
A public sector option would destroy competition by creating a new “lowest common denominator” in health insurance. The goal should be to elevate the standards not lower them.

when i hear people say( including people running the govt. ie. republicans ) that the govt. does nothing right or well . private is better. my reaction is are they stupid or just lieing ? lets see , 1995 to 2008 , gut bank and wall street regulations and oversight . the markets and banks will self regulate . ( greenspan + all republicans and fox econ. pundits ) . how did that work out ? sheila and i were invested fairly on the conserveite side . we “only”lost about 50,000 to 60,000. . now greenspan says “oops”. does that mean he is giving up ane rand? i don’t think so. tell you what lets go with darwin thought system. lets close down the fdic (ever been in a real live bank run , i have 1983 , it can be so exciting like a horror movie only you in it.) lets give back everyone social security money and everyone can invest it themselves .( when i worked in shoprite thru my collage days lots of seniors brought lots of dog food . tasty , the good old days , by the way no joke on that ) . we have hired soldiers to fight for us ( downsizing the armed forces to the point where they are necessary . cathage hired mercenaries to fight rome for them . that worked well …. for rome in the end .) picture the faces on those poor souls , in florida /texas , carolinas when a big storm hits ( can’t have the govt. interfering , no fema , now that they have professionals running it instead of political hacks , no emergrncy services , everyone for themselves. we will pray for you and give at our church.) i can go on for a very long time , but lets end with medicare . poof it is gone tomorrow . we get back the money we have put in . what do you think the next day would be like ? it would take a little bit , but i am thinking mad max beyond thunderdome . survival of the fittest and i do mean that . kris there are people who would rather die than part with ideas/ideals/beliefs no matter how wrong they are shown to be . if i could take some of these people and show them the end of the timeline brought about by the enforcing of the beliefs and that was two vaguelly humans cooking a third human for food , these people would ask if the meat was tender ? yes , you can find examples of problems with any system , but does that mean it is a disaster , a horror to be flee . most people are happy with medicare . most canadains are happy , brits , french ect. the govt. is a tool and it can and does good. we can have a great arguement about what we want our govt. to do for us ( and what we are willing to pay for ), but sorry to say many people have no idea how much they already get ( or to put it like a teabagger / glen beck could understand we are all on the public teat already.) by the way , the chairman of united health care who retired with 1.1 billion dollars , well his 2nd who is now running the show so far has collected 750 million dollars in about 5 years .( that is not counting the 190 million he had to give back for back dated stock options . that company had the lowest satisfaction rate among its clients (5%) of all major healthcare companies . private is better , right??? john
