I wanted to put a warning out in case the idiot who hacked into my facebook account tries to contact my friends and family looking for money.  Apparently this is a pretty common problem with facebook.

Someone was able to guess my password, that what I get for using something so easy . . . .lesson learned and deleted by registered email addresses and replaced it with kris_kovacs@verizonmail.com.  I of course do not own that email address, I know amazing since I have so many but not that one.

If you should be contacted by someone using that email account please tell them to go to hell.

I’ve contacted Facebook, who so far has not been real helpful.  This take over fits a pattern of others yet they seem very slow to act.  Not really happy with their customer support so far.  We’ll see what they do.

I’ll let you know when this pimple is popped!

Update 1/10/2009:   So far had have heard more from my “rich dead uncle” in Nigeria than from Facebook.  I have to admit I’m really disappointed by their complete lack of communication.  I don’t need it fixed right away I just want to be sure they’ve gotten my message, any of the 6 I’ve sent.  This never happened to my MySpace account.  In fact this little incident has given me the chance to revisit their site, as I have discovered an appearent need to use social networks.  Their new profile 2.0 tool is really very cool.  Maybe even BETTER than facebook, but that is probably just the dissatisfied Facebook user talking.

I was successful in having the verizonmail account shut down by Mail.com . . . .they own the services that verizonmail runs on.

Update 1/11/2009: Believe it or not I have found yet another possible form to complete on facebooks help page.  This one looks promising.  We’ll see what happens.

Update 2/3/2009 - I’m losing hope that this will ever be resolved.  I’m leaning toward creating a new account, despite the Facebook team’s recommendation.  This customer service has been awful!

Update 2/4/2009 – I got an email from Clint at Facebook.  They have closed the account and I need to write an email from my original login email address, so I forwarded the message to my yahoo account and I’m writing him back . . . .cross your fingers it looks like were are coming to the end of this craziness.  I also included a picture which he can use to identify me against my profile picture, my kids against those in the albums, and my wife to her profile account.  I know you’ll want to see it to so here you go!

Update 2/4/2009 – Haven’t heard back from Clint but saw this on MSNBC today.  Appearently this is happened to alot of people.

UPDATE 2/24/2009 – Setup a New Facebook Page.  It took almost 6 weeks for them to get back to me.  They did finally reopen by account but I had gotten so frustrated I has created a new account.  So I went through my old profile, added all of my friends to my new profile and deleted the old one.  YOU SHOULD DOO THE SAME!
